Introduction
One of the most controversial issues today relates to reading habits: reading paper books versus reading e-books. While some people tend towards the viewpoint that paper books bring a better reading experience and protect eyesight, others support the idea that e-books are more convenient and environmentally friendly. In this essay, I am going to examine both points of view and provide my own opinion.
Body 1
On one side of the argument there are people who support paper books. To be specific, physical books do not require electronic devices and will not cause distraction from pop-up messages. It is also possible for readers to mark notes on pages easily. One good illustration of this is that many scholars still prefer printed books for in-depth academic reading.
Body 2
On the other hand, the opposite argument is that e-books are more beneficial. For one thing, e-books take no physical space and people can store hundreds of books on a single device. To illustrate, travellers can carry a whole library without heavy luggage. For another, the fact that producing e-books cuts down paper consumption also deserves attention. In other words, digital reading helps protect forests.
Conclusion
In conclusion, although it might seem sensible to read paper books for deep concentration, I personally believe e-books suit the fast-paced modern life better. The main reason is that digital reading greatly improves reading efficiency and resource utilisation.
